Everything about Shibuya Sky: how to book tickets that sell out instantly, best time for night views, and tips from 3+ visits.

Shibuya Sky — Tokyo's Best Observation Deck

Shibuya Sky is the rooftop observatory on top of Shibuya Scramble Square, directly connected to Shibuya Station. It's one of the few places in Tokyo where you can enjoy a full 360° panoramic view from an outdoor rooftop — a must-visit on any Tokyo itinerary.

How to Get There

The observatory entrance is on the 14th floor of Shibuya Scramble Square. A direct elevator on the outside of the building takes you straight up. If you arrive early, the Starbucks and Tsutaya bookstore on the 11th floor and restaurants on floors 12-13 are worth checking out.

Booking Tickets & Prices

Walk-in tickets are essentially impossible to get. Evening time slots sell out immediately when they open, and even daytime slots are gone within days. Daytime (10:00-15:00) costs ¥3,000, while sunset and evening (15:00-21:00) is ¥3,700.

Klook is the fastest and most reliable booking platform — better than the official site.

Tickets open 2 weeks before your visit date at midnight (00:00 JST). Sunset and night slots sell out within minutes, so set an alarm.

The Experience

After checking in, store your belongings in free lockers (selfie sticks, hats, umbrellas must be left behind due to wind). The escalator ride up already offers incredible views.

Daytime panoramic view from Shibuya Sky rooftop

The rooftop is a wide, open-air space with panoramic views in every direction. Compared to Tokyo Skytree, the outdoor feel and openness here are far superior. A staff photo spot is available but expect queues — photos are paid.

The Tokyo Tower side features a dedicated seating area with sofas and tables. In the evening, a drink purchase is required to access this section, but the view is absolutely worth it. There's also a hammock-net area for relaxing.

The indoor observatory one floor below has clean glass and fewer crowds — ideal for photography on windy days.

Night views are strongly recommended. Tokyo's dense skyline lit up is stunning, and the Shibuya commercial district adds extra brilliance. That said, daytime views are still impressive if evening tickets are sold out.
